Why learn foreign language ?
If you're moving overseas to a country where many of the locals speak your language, you may think it's not worth the hassle. You will however reap the rewards even if you learn just a few words. People will appreciate your efforts and it will help you to integrate with the locals. Even if you're just going abroad on holiday for a week or two you will find your holiday will be so much more fun if you make the effort.

Research by scientists from the University College London indicate that learning a foreign language is good for the brain. Brains of 105 people were studied, 80 of whom could speak a foreign language. They concluded that to learn a foreign language alters grey matter in the brain in the same way that exercise builds muscles. Scientists already know the brain has the ability to change as a result of stimulation - which is known as 'plasticity' - but this research demonstrates how learning languages develops it. The scans revealed that the density of the grey matter in the left inferior parietal cortex of the brain was greater in bilinguals than in those without a second language. Conclusion: learn foreign language - it's good for you.
